Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
